The temporary protection granted to Ukrainian refugees in Switzerland is not an indefinite right of residence but a conditional shelter in the face of the invasion and violence ravaging their country. It guarantees the safety and dignity of individuals without suspending the fundamental principle of return as soon as it becomes safe and regulated. Extending their stay beyond what is necessary breaks the balance between humanity and legality, and diverts protection from its primary objective. The rule of "reasonably acceptable return" thus makes it possible to reconcile respect for individuals with the obligations of the host State, offering an orderly solution that combines prudence, justice and legal responsibility.

For starters, what is meant by "reasonable" would have to be concretely defined; whereby "right" and "left" naturally - shortly before various cantonal elections and not all that far away from federal elections - are of course spreading diametrically opposed populism. Therefore, I say in dubio pro reo: stay; because what the political bigwigs on both sides are not even interested in: this is no longer even about a paltry by-product, which is only good if - supposedly - voters can be generated by it; this is about "people"; including children who have by now been enrolled in schools. Had politicians reacted adequately and dutifully in time - at the time of the Crimea annexation in 2014 - this situation would have been spared both for Ukrainians and for us. However, the same political hacks have since been re-elected twice instead of being voted out, which is why we, including all costs, have thoroughly earned having to see this soup through to the end...🤔🥱🤑😮🤪🤣w
