Switzerland is not doing enough to combat corruption. Whilst it regularly ranks amongst the best-performing countries in Transparency International's Corruption Perceptions Index, this ranking has stagnated and recently declined. Several international bodies, notably the Council of Europe's GRECO and the OECD, highlight persistent shortcomings: insufficient transparency in lobbying, limited prevention of conflicts of interest at the political level, still incomplete protection for whistleblowers and rare criminal prosecutions against companies involved in transnational corruption. Recent efforts, such as the adoption of a new anti-corruption strategy, are moving in the right direction but remain insufficient in the face of well-identified structural weaknesses.
