Should Switzerland participate in Trump's "Peace Council"? Good heavens, no! Let's be honest: this is not a body for world peace, this is a stage for Trump's ego. It's his personal sandbox where he, like a tyrannical child, decides who, when and for how long may play. He alone makes the rules.

We can already see what happens when someone doesn't dance to his tune: those who say "no" or voice criticism end up on the blacklist or are blackmailed with punitive tariffs. This has nothing to do with diplomacy, this is pure power politics in the style of a feudal lord.

The fact that Bern has not yet clearly distanced itself is a mystery and a damning indictment. What has become of our neutrality? Have we flogged it off in a clearance sale? Sitting at this table does not mean promoting peace, but rather submitting to an unpredictable egomaniac. Switzerland must not degenerate into a compliant extra in Trump's reality show.

Actually, I find the concept repugnant; it violates international law and morality to a horrific degree, as immoral as the historical colonisation, enslavement and extermination of entire peoples by European powers.

Unfortunately, SRF lacks the sense of duty to call things by their name, thereby helping to deceive the readership.
Trump's plan must be reported, prevented and condemned at the highest level.
Then, because little Switzerland cannot achieve anything by complaining, and in order to be able to participate from within, one must reluctantly join the circus.
Then Israel must finally be sanctioned, boycotted and condemned (in accordance with international law and rulings of the international courts).
Either we finally act according to law and our values, and live with the consequences, or we don't.
If not, we admit to being nothing but cowardly, self-righteous hypocrites who couldn't care less about human rights and international law.
