It should be noted that the intended goal is not the overthrow of a dictator but the seizure of oil - the Trump administration does not even hide it. Neither that nor the "drug trafficking", which in itself has caused a whole series of crimes, holds water.

But even accepting the coup as a motive, it remains interference contrary to international law.

And in fact, even by answering yes, one would be missing the point since the goal has not been achieved: Venezuela, far from being "controlled by the United States", maintains its government and its policies. We therefore have a criminal act that threatens global stability without having accomplished anything other than deaths. All this for arbitrary justice, obviously, since an attempted genocide remains unpunished and an aggressor is encouraged.

Yes, because (1) the free world (of which we are part) has a moral duty to intervene in countries where human rights are violated; (2) Maduro being at the head of one of the world's largest cartels, his arrest has a major positive impact on the fight against drug trafficking; (3) the country has in the past nationalised without compensation private American oil concessions and infrastructure; (4) with China, Iran, and Russia having created increasingly strong ties with the Maduro regime, this change mitigates the influence of these autocratic countries in the world.
In short, one can say what one wants against Trump and I am often the first to criticise him, but this operation was a historic success across the board.
