Every citizen can arrange this themselves, either by transferring a sum monthly via standing order to a separate account that is for taxes, or otherwise directly to the tax office via standing order if they are not disciplined enough to use the money in the separate account only for taxes. The proposal only creates additional workload for employers if they have to act as tax collectors. And what happens to employees who suddenly have their wages garnished? Taxes are not included in the subsistence minimum by the debt collection office. This means that afterwards the employee would receive a wage that is below the subsistence minimum, since the deduction for taxes is still taken from it. Because 10% have a problem with taxes, 90% should be patronised! Next will come the demand that health insurance premiums and even rent should be deducted from wages.

Yes, out of sheer exhaustion. Considering AHV, IV, IC and all the other deductions, to which LAMal, mandatory by law, is added, and, at this point, also taxes, what remains at the end of the month is barely 200 or 300 francs. Fixed expenses are plentiful: rent or mortgage, telephone, television licence and fees, electricity, home and car insurance, and so on.

If you carry out a comprehensive calculation of all the expenses in Switzerland, you realise just how high they actually are, often excessively so. Moreover, there does not seem to be any real brake: at the vote to reduce health insurance premiums, the political response was that taxes would be increased. In practice, little changes for the population. Car and home insurance companies continue to raise prices significantly.

A concrete example: a few days ago, in a shop in the centre of Lugano, I bought a loaf of bread for CHF 5.90; from Saturday it went up to CHF 6.50, an increase of around 10%. Switzerland is becoming increasingly expensive and, at a certain point, an inevitable "every man for himself" situation arises. Take away everything you can from salaries, but then you cannot complain if citizens decide to do their shopping across the border. On a purchase of 200 euros, removing VAT, over 20 euros go back into your pocket: every ten shopping trips, one is practically free.

And so it will be for many other goods and services. As a result, in Switzerland, shops, restaurants and other businesses risk gradually closing down.

There is an urgent need to find serious, concrete and effective solutions for the population.
