Like all drugs... It's the quantity that sets the boundaries. Alcohol has something very dangerous about it: its social position. No one ever asks a person who refuses a cigarette or a joint if they are ill or a former addict.

It's its normality, or its normalisation that is critical... How many times have we heard: "Yeah but you know I'd been drinking" to absolve oneself of a massive blunder one has made or said.

In short, like all drugs in this world, alcohol is both pleasure and poison. But the poison side is, however, far more pronounced than in other drugs. The dependency is "for life", withdrawal can lead to death if not monitored (delirium tremens)... In this sense, it is a very dangerous drug and a poison, not only for the person who consumes it, but far more so for those around them.

Pleasure but.....If tomorrow you authorise the cultivation of cannabis and the mountainsides are covered with such crops, and if tomorrow you authorise the consumption of drugs, you will be able to say in 50 years "It's part of our culture, our heritage", in other words, it's a completely flawed argument. What the WHO says is only advice, not an obligation. It's true that it's primarily up to you to manage this, but I wonder when you wake up the next morning with a terrible headache, nausea and without knowing how you got home. Tell me where the "pleasure" is in that. This contrasts sharply with a few glasses of wine accompanying a good meal, which is gastronomy, whereas the other case is simply drunkenness.
