I find that the Swiss system demands a lot from patients (in addition to the costs). There's a very prevalent discourse of "living with pain" and doctors who always advise to "see how it develops" without ever intervening, and then say "That's how it is, you have to live with it". "Mrs has had dizziness for months? It's probably age, you have to get used to it. Unbearable varicose veins? It's not that serious"... Even if you're willing to pay, it's difficult to find adequate care and doctors who intervene. And sometimes even doctors at all (the shortage is proven). Haphazard diagnoses seem frequent to me (friends have for example consulted for 5 years in Switzerland for their child's problems, before finding, in Spain, a doctor capable of identifying a food allergy). Overall a lot of waiting, very little prevention, and general practitioners perhaps overwhelmed by the scope of current knowledge that would be needed.

That the healthcare system is not bad can easily be found out through international comparison - if one wants to find it out. Since the work is practically only carried out by people, one must therefore compare the wage level among countries. This also makes costs estimable. That there are too few doctors, the doctors already said about 20 years ago and demonstrated in Bern in front of the Federal Palace just over 10 years ago. Instead, they preferred to "fill up with doctors" from abroad. Cheaper, but not better. Now the federal government admits to having made a miscalculation. - Only it takes at least 11 years until a doctor has completed specialist training. The training positions can only be increased gradually, which massively lengthens the process.

If in a healthcare system the heart of the matter is worth the LEAST (the consultation costs the least per minute), then something is fundamentally wrong!! Just as hypocritical: health insurance companies spend millions on advertising?!?
