In fact, everyone is responsible: companies, which do not do much to change their manufacturing and/or packaging processes (due to innovative laziness and, above all, easy profit), and consumers who, for the most part, do not have a very developed sense of civic and environmental responsibility (as evidenced by the state of picnic and camping areas after their visit, litter thrown anywhere, etc.).

The world will eventually die from our lack of conscience and respect... Let's not forget that we are only tenants (and not owners) of the world: fundamentally, we have the duty to take care of this place of passage, to preserve it for future generations.

Some important points:

Companies are both producers and consumers, and not insignificant ones: Swiss people spend about 35 hours per week in their service, consuming on their behalf and under their responsibility. And polluting.

They are responsible because they have chosen to exist. Their profit requirement is contained within this framework; it is subsequent to this choice. If a company cannot meet the dual need for a better society and profit, it should cease its activities.

Plastic pollution is plastic released into the environment, and in Switzerland, microparticles from tyre wear dominate (8,900 tonnes/year compared to 2,700 tonnes for littering and 900 tonnes of microplastics released by wastewater treatment plants). The problem therefore seems structural.

Companies are central as they are producers, consumers and the main place of socialisation. Making them accountable (through legislation, collaboration, etc.) seems obvious to me and much easier than targeting individuals.
