What a mistake this would be for our society, which will end up paying the social cost (at a time when our social system is already threatened by our demographics, we don't need to add another layer).

Legalisation for recreational use = trivialisation. And even if each individual consumer could theoretically obtain a higher quality substance, the trivialisation of a psychotropic drug (just like alcohol, by the way) legitimises its use and increases the number of users tenfold. This, in the end, increases the negative consequences on the health of a population and on the resulting medical care. Because yes, cannabis does damage the brain, creates habituation/dependence, opens the door to other "harder" drugs, etc.

I say no to a society that trivialises all addictive substances. I say yes to human beings freed from all forms of dependency and who enjoy good health!

The decades-long repression against cannabis users has caused more victims than consumption itself. At the time, given the prices, the joints that consumers smoked generally contained much more tobacco than cannabis. Add to that poor quality, sometimes less than 10% cannabis to 90% of random, even toxic products, which certainly endangered the health of these consumers. I have a very vivid memory of the smell of burning tyres emanating from a joint smoked by a group of 'hippies'. The violence due to alcohol has been suppressed for too long, and many lives have been destroyed in families who had to endure the pathological anger of alcoholics in general indifference. I am not aware of any violence, similar to that caused by alcohol, under the influence of cannabis.
