Unlike traditional assets (shares, bonds, cash) which confer a right (ownership of a company, a claim accompanied by contractual remuneration, the right to obtain goods in exchange for legal tender), bitcoin gives you no right other than the hope of reselling it one day at a higher price to someone who will be willing to pay for hot air. The price of bitcoin is therefore inherently purely speculative, and exposed to loss of confidence or loss of interest from the public/market operators.

Added to this risk is a purely technical limitation: the energy needed to run the system could be lacking - in the event of a long-term blackout affecting bitcoin mines, the entire transaction system could be affected, leading to a crisis of confidence, which brings us back to the first point.

Bitcoin is therefore gambling, but riskier - clearly not the playground of a central bank.

Only Bitcoin is decentralised and strictly limited to 21 million units (which in turn contain billions of Satoshis). The energy and lifetime (fiat money) expended to protect this extremely decentralised system (anyone can participate with a node) is simultaneously its intrinsic value. Transparency is provided by the underlying blockchain technology. Any central bank that acquires this asset diversifies its investments with a deflationary asset with theoretically endless value appreciation in an otherwise purely inflationary environment.
