I don't intend to let myself get bogged down in this question. I'm in favor of gradually reducing development aid, until it's all gone. But why?

1) This aid has been, and still is, nothing more than a way of participating in the neo-colonial capitalist policy of enriching the West: giving a little on the one hand to make people forget that we are actually exploiting a lot on the other.

2) The abolition of this aid (finally judged to be virtually useless, so we might as well save) is a welcome measure of transparency: having the courage to admit that we are among the profiteers, to show and tell our arrogant Western avarice towards developing nations.

3) An open door to imagine a new type of relationship, yet to be invented, as we are not there yet in our multipolar world.

Please, where is the development aid? I was 6 years old when the village priest collected money for development aid.

60 years and 600 billion francs later, we are still facing the same problems. Do all these efforts achieve anything at all?

Has development aid become a business for a few companies?

To really make a difference, politics would have to change. Here in Switzerland, but also in the "developing countries"

Here it is the search for the cheapest goods at any price. Child labor, exploitation of nature and people.

There, it is cooperation with dubious companies and totalitarian governments.

To remedy this would be real development aid.

If such aid costs something, I agree.

But development aid that only ever costs money and that leaves us in the same position 60 years and 600 billion francs later must be given a question mark.
