It's absurd that Switzerland is so permissive about tobacco.

The lobbies are powerfully at work with a strategy that was worked out 100 years ago (with Freud's nephew, who knew the human mind well!).

It's absurd to compare the permissiveness of legal drugs - tobacco, medicines and alcohol - in the face of repression, and the lack of convincing results for those classified as illegal, cannabis first and foremost, without any scientific basis (they're just as toxic and dangerous, but no more so!).

In addition to tobacco, this strategy of disinformation, which has been so successful that it sets an example for many opponents of change, is also contaminating other fields: oil, climate change, vaccines, by postponing our decisions to remove controversies, wait for more evidence and above all do nothing now!

One could say, with a touch of elegant bitterness, that some elected officials have traded political thought for the reflex of prohibition.

They no longer govern: they regulate. They no longer propose: they forbid.

It's quicker, it looks good in the media, and it gives the illusion of action.

We're past the beginning: prohibition has become a political automatism.

Vaping is just another episode in the series "Let's protect them from themselves".

Every social issue is settled with a red ribbon and nails on the door.

The citizen is no longer sovereign: they are suspect, fragile, corrected by default.

We no longer choose, we endure — or we step aside, gently but firmly.

Democracy is still consulted, but its scissors have been taken away.

We're already signing disclaimers for thinking on our own.

And while risk recedes — or pretends to — freedom, it truly disappears for good.
