Gone are the days of the caves when man needed to hunt to survive. Admittedly, at that time, it may have contributed to giving certain tribes their dose of animal protein (I think, above all, that the skin was much more useful as protection against the cold). Nowadays, hunting has nothing to do with it: what pleasure is there in stalking wild animals and killing them with a shotgun blast? How does killing allow you to claim to be close to nature? So, hunters, sharpen your spears and bows like our distant ancestors and set off to track wild beasts for miles and days, then maybe we'll be able to talk about hunting and our relationship with nature. Man has always seen fit to arrogate to himself the right to "&nbsp;serve&nbsp;" nature simply because he thinks he's superior to it. Let's not forget that he's done everything he can to escape nature in order to satisfy his comfort zone by crushing all forms of life or bending them to his own criteria, driven by a very limited intelligence (I'd be tempted to say retarded). Leave nature alone if you don't know how to respect it. No one is its guarantor, least of all hunters.

Did you know that in the canton of Jura, for example, hunters perform about 3,200 hours of community service for nature conservation each year? The work ranges from clearing glades to trimming hedges or maintaining biotopes, with amphibians being the biggest beneficiaries, even though they are not hunted (or rather fished) in our country.

In contrast to this, there is the canton of Geneva with its "temporary" hunting ban since 1974. This canton employs wildlife wardens to regulate game, and this is not done in the same way as standard hunting since (almost) everything is allowed: night hunting, silenced rifles, night vision scopes, connected camera traps, etc. Animals designated for culling are given little chance.

In my opinion, hunters are friends of nature and are certainly among the people who spend the most time exploring it, but also conserving it.
