Humanity often only reacts once disaster has already struck – and only recognises in hindsight that action should have been taken. The same applies to climate change: the warning signs are obvious, yet many refuse to acknowledge them and shy away from stepping out of their comfort zone. Therefore, the answer remains: no.

Natural disasters can never be prevented 100%. Fortunately, they tend to be decreasing, and extreme weather is no longer as extreme as it used to be (see, for example, the weeks-long intensive rainfall before the landslides at Goldau and Elm, or the much earlier one at Flims, which has been the absolute worst in Switzerland within living memory).
