In order to objectify the discussion, it is essential to differentiate between biological sex, perceived/lived sex and sexual orientation.

Biologically, there are people with an XX or XY set of chromosomes; I am not aware of any other variants, so the biological sex can be clearly determined.  Of course, there are rare individuals with a copying error in the chromosome set that distorts the external sexual characteristics, but these can also be assigned to the XX or XY group.

If the sex entry in the civil status register/passport refers to the biological sex, the whole discussion about other sex types becomes superfluous.



Of course, everyone can still feel they are in the wrong body and dress accordingly, or indulge in their sexual orientation, but the chromosome set cannot yet be changed.

I believe that we need to clarify and organize some things beforehand. Changing rooms, toilets - how do we deal with these? (By the way, these are not problems that are actually relevant, but ones that obviously evoke the most emotions...) Another dilemma, of course, is that the other two genders are also not equal. This would, of course, also need to be resolved.

Otherwise, there's nothing against a third gender.

I'll even go one step further - I believe that (apart from religious reasons, which I don't accept on principle in a secular state) I've never heard an honest argument against queer people. The only honest one would be - I don't understand these people. And that's a completely valid view of things. Personally, I don't understand it either. I don't understand how someone can feel assigned to the wrong gender. Or even none at all. It's completely incomprehensible to me. Also, how a man can love a man makes no sense to me, I can't understand it at all. Also, how a woman can fall in love with a man, complete nonsense, I can't comprehend it. But - the beautiful thing is - that doesn't matter.

It has been researched enough to definitively say that these people are completely normal. That their suffering (gender dysphoria) is real and that gender-affirming care (we can certainly discuss details like how early and to what extent) helps these people the most. An above-average number of them have mental health issues, proven to be due to society's treatment of them.

And it takes so little to spare queer people so much suffering. By showing openness and empathy and being loving. And by informing ourselves just a little bit about the topic. It really doesn't take much... But when I read the comments in the "No" column, I rather come to the conclusion that this is asking too much.
