The social aspect is clearly positive for me, the opportunity to get to know people and maintain existing contacts is very important and nice. I found my partner through discussions on the net, but it was only through real encounters that a real relationship developed. The possibility of maintaining contact via the Internet enabled us to cultivate and deepen our long-distance relationship (800 km) over the years until we were finally able to move in together in real life.
Despite this positive experience, I don't want to deny the dangers of social media for society. The algorithms of the individual platforms create bubbles of interest in which users lose touch with reality. This bubble formation can be manipulated too easily and abused commercially and politically. As a result, the boundaries between truth and fake are becoming increasingly blurred (AI is even more so) and increasingly divides people's solidarity and empathy, which in turn endangers society and democracy.

Personally, I'd say that social networks aren't bad in themselves, and so the impact of social networks depends on how each person uses them. It's like money or magic, they're not bad in themselves, but it depends on how each person uses them.

On a personal level, social networks have a good impact, because they enable us to get closer to relatives, family and close acquaintances. They also allow us to discover new realities we didn't know about, to reunite, and so on...
